Jerome Robbins (1918-1998) was an American choreographer, director, dancer, and theater producer who worked in classical ballet, on stage, film, and television. Among his numerous stage productions the most well-known are “On the Town”, “Peter Pan”, “West Side Story” and “Fiddler on the Roof”. Robbins became ballet master of the NYCB in 1972 and worked almost exclusively in classical dance throughout the next decade. Robbins was a five-time Tony award -winner, two Academy awards and a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors.

George Balanchine (1904-1983) a Russian-born Georgian-American ballet choreographer who was one of the most influential 20th century choreographers. Styled as the father of American ballet, he co-founded the New York City Ballet and remained its Artistic Director for more than 35 years. It is hard to think of the ballet world without his colossal presence. In his lifetime “Mr. B” has created 465 works. Balanchine extended the traditions of classical ballet. His choreography remains the same to the present day and the School of American Ballet still uses his teaching technique.

Johan Kobborg is a Danish ballet dancer, choreographer, director and visual artist, born in 1972. He was a principal dancer with both the Royal Danish Ballet and the Royal Ballet in London, as well as guest of other ballet companies with his partner Alina Cojocaru. From 2013 to 2016, Kobborg served as the Artistic Director of the National Ballet Company in Bucharest. Kobborg is recipient of numerous awards, including the prized from Erik Bruhn Competition, Nureyev Grand Prix, Jackson USA Grand Prix, and received an Olivier Award -nomination for his production of “La Sylphide”.

Christopher Wheeldon is an English international choreographer of contemporary and neo-classical ballet, born in 1973. A Gold medal winner of the Lausanne competition, Wheeldon began dancing with the NYCB in 1993 and started choreographing for the company in 1997, while continuing his career as a dancer. In 2001, he became the NYCB’s resident choreographer and first resident artist. He quickly developed a reputation as a talented choreographer, and several other eminent ballet companies, such as the San Francisco Ballet, the Bolshoi, the Canada National Ballet and the Royal Ballet, London have commissioned dances from him. To date, Wheeldon had composed at least 45 works including few musicals am0ng them the successful An American in Paris.
